In 2011, my older sister Amy moved to Seattle. I miss her a ton, but it does provide a great travel opportunity for her desert dwelling siblings. So far I have visited Seattle in the fall, winter, and summer and have yet to be disappointed. As difficult as it was to narrow it down, below are highlights and favorite spots of my trips to date. Seattle Boardwalk: Somehow I have been blessed with mostly blue skies each time I have visited Seattle. Right around the corner from the famous market, the boardwalk boasts gorgeous views of the city skyline and the waterfront. Pikes Place Market: Yes, I know. Every tourist visiting Seattle knows about Pike's Place Market. While the sights and sounds of the market are filled with an energy like no other, the real reason to visit is for one thing: Beecher's Mac & Cheese. Whether rain or shine, this Mac & Cheese is worth the wait...trust me. Alki Beach: Sometimes less is more. During our summer trip, we rented bikes and road them down the beach, finishing with dinner at Salty's which overlooks the skyline. This could very well be my favorite activity thus far in Seattle. Just the view from the ferry alone is worth it! The Seattle Great Wheel: The Great Wheel opened on June 29th, 2012. We were lucky enough to ride it at sunset in August 2012. Lake Union: This lake is a must visit for multiple reasons. It hosts stand up paddles, kayaks, small boats, and the infamous Duck Tour. On the shore is also the unique Gas Works Park. Local 360: All ingredients from this restaurant are from a 360 mile radius. We have made this a must stop (sometimes multiple stops-caught!) whenever we visit Seattle. Golden Gardens: Located in Ballard on the Puget Sound, this was more than your average park. Chateau St. Michelle Winery: Located about 20 miles from Seattle, the beautiful countryside is reason enough to visit. In case your interested, they also have a tour and wine tasting. Columbia Tower: Who needs the Seattle Needle when you can go to the top of the Columbia Tower? My brother-in-law finally got tired of hearing my rant and took me to the top on my 4th visit to the city.
